Cross-Platform WhatsApp Data Transfer: Android↔iOS & Same-OS Transfers

Step 1. Launch MobileTrans and Connect Both Phones

Open MobileTrans on your computer and go to App Transfer > WhatsApp. Connect both phones to the computer and make sure the source and destination devices are displayed correctly.

Select Transfer to move WhatsApp data to the target device. MobileTrans also provides Transfer & Merge if you want to keep both the existing WhatsApp data and the transferred chats on the target device. The steps below focus on the Transfer mode.

Step 2. Complete the Pre-Transfer Check

Before starting the WhatsApp transfer, MobileTrans automatically checks whether the connected devices meet the transfer requirements.

If any issue is detected, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the required setup before continuing. This helps prevent the transfer from being interrupted after it has already started.

Step 3. Prepare the WhatsApp Backup

The backup process varies slightly depending on the transfer direction.

Android to iPhone: You can choose AI-assisted Backup to let MobileTrans automatically complete the required WhatsApp backup steps. If preferred, you can also choose the manual option and follow the on-screen instructions.

iPhone to Android: MobileTrans uses the standard backup process. Keep your iPhone connected and follow the on-screen instructions until the WhatsApp backup is ready.

Note: AI-assisted Backup is currently available for Android-to-iPhone transfers only.

Step 4. Restore Messages and Choose Whether to Transfer Attachments

After the backup is ready, follow the on-screen instructions to restore WhatsApp data to the target phone. MobileTrans restores your WhatsApp messages first so that your essential chat data can be completed sooner.

Once the messages are restored, MobileTrans will show the size and number of the remaining attachments. You can choose to continue transferring the attachments immediately or transfer them later.
