How to stop apps from using cellular data on iPhone?

If you want to cut data usage fast, you can stop individual apps from using cellular data and force them to work only over Wi-Fi.

Options
  • You can turn off cellular data for individual apps.
  • You can also switch cellular data off completely if you want a full block.
  • System Services usage can be viewed, but those services cannot all be disabled individually.
Best Choice
  1. Open Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data.
  2. Scroll to the list of apps.
  3. Turn off the toggle for any app you do not want using mobile data.
  4. Leave essentials such as maps or messaging on if you still need them when Wi-Fi is unavailable.
Pro Tip

Streaming, cloud backup, and social apps usually save the most data when you switch them to Wi-Fi only.
