How to Fix an App Clone That Will Not Open

Learn how to fix an App Clone That Will Not Open by clearing cache, checking permissions, updating apps, and recreating the clone.

A cloned app on a Samsung phone usually stops opening because of missing permissions, a damaged clone profile, battery restrictions, or an incompatible app update. The fastest fix is to force stop the clone, clear its cache and data, update the original app and system software, then recreate the clone if the launch problem remains.

Steps
  1. Open Settings > Apps, select the cloned app, then tap Force stop.
  2. Go to Storage, clear Cache first. If the app still will not open, clear Data for the clone.
  3. Check Permissions, especially Storage, Contacts, Phone, and Notifications. A clone may fail to load without them.
  4. Disable battery limits for the cloned app under Battery > Unrestricted or Not optimized.
  5. Remove the clone and create it again if the original app opens normally but the clone stays stuck.
Common Issues and Fixes
  • Black screen on launch — Often caused by a broken app session or WebView issue. Clear cache, then update Android System WebView and Chrome.
  • App closes immediately — Usually caused by a corrupted clone profile or app version mismatch. Reinstall the original app and rebuild the clone.
  • Clone shows login error — Some apps block duplicated sessions or multi-instance use. Check whether the app supports cloning at all.
  • Clone disappears after update — Samsung updates or app updates can reset cloned app settings. Recreate the clone after major updates.
  • Secure Folder clone will not open — Secure Folder restrictions or a locked profile may block startup. Unlock Secure Folder and test the app outside Secure Folder.
Quick Tips
  • Built-in Samsung options such as Dual Messenger or Secure Folder are usually more stable than third-party cloning tools.
  • Some apps, especially banking, payment, and work apps, intentionally prevent cloning.
  • Clearing data removes saved sign-in details from the clone. Account access may need to be set up again.
  • If multiple cloned apps fail, restart the phone and check for a recent One UI or app update.
Are cloning apps other than App Cloner safe?

Some cloning apps are legitimate, but only trusted app stores and well-known developers should be considered. Samsung’s built-in cloning features are usually safer than random third-party tools.

Why does a cloned app work on one Samsung phone but not another?

Different One UI versions, Android versions, and security settings can change clone behavior. An app that opens on one model may fail on another if permissions, battery settings, or app compatibility differ.
