How to free up storage space on a Samsung?

The fastest way to free up storage on Samsung is to use Device care to review large files, duplicate items, downloads, and apps you no longer need. Moving photos and videos off the phone also creates the biggest space savings.

Steps
  1. Open Settings and go to Battery and device care, then tap Storage or Device care.
  2. Review Samsung's suggestions for junk files, duplicates, large files, or unused apps.
  3. Delete unnecessary downloads and uninstall apps you no longer use.
  4. Move photos and videos to cloud storage, a computer, or an SD card if your model supports it.
Quick Checks
  • Check Gallery or My Files trash because deleted items can still take up space for a while.
  • Offline downloads from streaming apps can use far more storage than people expect.
  • Leave some free space after cleanup so the phone can keep running smoothly.
Tips
  • Large video files are usually the easiest place to recover a lot of storage quickly.
  • Be careful not to delete files that only live on the phone and were never backed up anywhere else.
  • Menu names can vary slightly by model, carrier, or One UI version.
