How to handle a Samsung phone after water exposure?

If your Samsung phone gets wet, the safest first step is to stop charging it, dry the outside, and let any moisture in the port evaporate before using a cable again.

What to Do First
  1. Unplug the charger immediately if the phone is connected.
  2. Gently shake the device to help remove moisture from the port.
  3. Dry the outside with a soft cloth.
  4. Wait about 1 to 2 hours for the port to dry naturally.
Important Checks
  • Do not charge the phone while it is wet.
  • If anything other than fresh water entered the port, rinse with fresh water and dry it thoroughly.
  • If your model supports it, wireless charging can be a temporary option after the device is dry.
Pro Tip

Do not stick cotton swabs, pins, or tissues into the port. If the moisture warning will not clear after drying time, contact Samsung support or a service center.
