If you use your Samsung device to capture the precious moments in your life, you probably have a lot of photos on the device. But it is important to keep in mind that it is very easy to lose these photos and videos. You can very easily accidentally delete some of these photos from the device and it is equally as easy to lose them if the device gets stolen or is significantly damaged.
In this article, we are going to show you how to avoid losing these precious memories, by showing you how to backup photos on Samsung. There are a variety of options to choose from when you want to backup Samsung photos, so let’s get started.
Method 1: How to Backup Photos from Samsung to Computer with MobileTrans
Method 2: How to Backup Photos to Samsung Cloud
Method 3: How to Transfer Photos from Samsung Phone to External Hard Drive
Method 4: How to Transfer Photos from Samsung to Google Drive
Method 5: How to Transfer Photos from Samsung Phone with Dropbox
While Cloud storage solutions can be helpful when you want to backup your photos, one of the most secure ways is to backup the photos on your computer. It is unlikely that a software malfunction can cause you to lose photos backed up on your computer and there is no risk of losing them since it is unlikely that you could lose your computer.
But rather than just transfer the photos one-by-one, a process that could take a long time, why not use a third-party tool designed to help you quickly and easily gather all the photos on your device and back them up to your computer. This tool is MobileTrans-Backup and the following simple guide shows you how to use it to backup all the photos on your Samsung device to your computer;
Step 1: Download and install Mobile-Trans Backup to your computer and then launch the program. Click on the “Backup” option. Now, connect the Samsung device to the computer using USB cables and wait for the program to detect the device.
Step 2: In the next window, you should see a list of the types of data that you can backup to your computer. Select “Photos” and then click “Start” to begin the backup process.
Keep the device connected to the computer until the process is complete. You will then be able to view the backup on your computer and you can use MobileTrans to restore the backup whenever you want to.
Every Samsung device comes with access to the Samsung Cloud that you can use to backup the data on the device including the photos. Follow these simple steps to sync the device’s gallery with the Samsung Cloud;
Step 1: Go to the device’s Settings and then select “Account and Backup”
Step 2: Select “Samsung Cloud”
Step 3: Tap “Gallery > Sync” and then tap “Albums to Upload”
Step 4: Now all you have to do is turn on the switch next to the album you want to sync and all photos in that Album will be backed up to the Samsung Cloud.
Another great way to ensure you have another copy of all your Samsung Photos is to transfer then to an External Hard Drive. Here’s how to do that;
Step 1: Connect the device to the PC and make sure you select the “Transferring images” option in Settings.
Step 2: Open the File Explorer on your computer and then go to This PC/ My computer and you should see the Android device in “Devices and Drive”. Double-click on the device to open it.
Step 3: Locate the DCIM/Camera folder which contains all the photos you take on the device. Open the folder and then copy all the photos you would like to transfer to your PC.
Step 4: Go to the External Hard Drive and paste the photos in the drive or a folder within the drive.
The best way to back up your Photos or Videos to the Google Drive is to back them up in Google Photos. Here’s how you can do that;
Step 1: On your device, tap on the “Google Photos” app to open it. It may be included in the “Google” folder of apps.
Step 2: Turn on the “Backup and Sync” option at the top and then tap “Confirm”
Step 3: Tap on the menu (three dots) > Select to choose the images that you would like to include in the backup.
Step 4: Once you have selected all the photos that you would like to include in the backup, tap on the menu again and select “Backup Now.” If you would like to remove the photos from the device but keep them in Google Photos, select “Delete from Device”.
Dropbox also offers you a great way to back up all the photos on your Samsung device and since you get 5GB of free storage with Dropbox, you can upload quite a number of files to the cloud service. Follow these simple steps to transfer the photos on your Samsung device to Dropbox;
Step 1: if you don’t already have Dropbox on your device, go the Google Play Store, search for it and then install it on the device. You will then need to sign in to Dropbox or create an account if you don’t already have one.
Step 2: Once the app is installed on your device, you can choose to automatically backup all the photos on the device to Dropbox. This means that any photo that you take on the device will be added to Dropbox. To set up this automatic backup, go to Apps > Dropbox and then tap on the menu icon at the top left corner to select Settings and the turn on “Camera Uploads.”
Step 3: To upload the photos already on your device go to Apps > My Files and then select the photos you want to add. Tap on the menu button at the top and then choose “Share > Add to Dropbox”. Tap “Add” to complete the process.
The solutions above are all useful when you want to ensure that all the photos on your Samsung device remain safe from loss. Choose a solution that will be the most appropriate for you to use and share your results with us in the comments section below.
