Part 1: How To Send Large Video on WhatsApp: Latest News
Part 2: How To Send Long Videos on WhatsApp: 3 Methods [> 2 GB]
Part 3: How To Send Full Video on WhatsApp [≤ 2 GB]
Part 4: Back up WhatsApp to Computer for Free
WhatsApp has finally heard its users! Gone are the days when media files had to be 16MB or less and documents had to be 100MB or less.
Since April 222, WhatsApp has allowed users to send attachments with a file size of up to 2GB, which is helpful for users who prefer to share large files on WhatsApp and maintain video quality.
Even though WhatsApp has increased the video size limit that can be shared with contacts, some users still ask if they can send larger video files. Well, the answer is yes! And the good thing is you don't have to send it as a document. Instead, just follow the simple steps explained in each method below to perform the task efficiently.
Google Drive is our first recommended method for sending full videos on WhatsApp. It just involves saving and backing up your videos to Google Drive, then sharing the video link to your WhatsApp contacts.
However, Google Drive offers only 15GB of free storage space. So, if you're looking to send multiple large video files that are more than 15G in total, you might need to upgrade Google Drive storage or use other methods on this page.
Step 1: Upload the Video to Google Drive
Open the Google Drive app on your Android or iOS device and tap the plus icon at the bottom of the screen. Then, select Upload and upload the Video file(s) you want to send to WhatsApp.
Step 2: After you upload the video file(s) to Google Drive, open it from there and tap the three-dot icon at the top-right. Then tap Copy Link.
Step 3: Tap the three-dot icon again and Select Share > Manage Access > Restricted.
Step 4: Next, Open WhatsApp and share the link you copied with anyone you wish to share the video with on WhatsApp.
Another way to send large video files on WhatsApp is by using a video converter to compress the video file. An app like Video Compressor Panda can come in handy for the operation. Thankfully, the tool has a simple interface that makes it easy for all users, though it might compromise your video quality.
See how to use the video converter below;
Step 1: Install the Video Converter app on your phone.
Step 2: Open the installed app and upload the video whose size you wish to compress.
Step 3: Next, select the compression type you want. You can choose either Small File, Medium File, Large File, or a file compatible with Email, Messenger, etc.
Step 4: Tap Compress to begin the video file compression process.
Note: Using a video converter will reduce the quality of your video. However, we recommend the Wondershare Uniconverter tool, as it can help you get the job done and retain the video's original quality.
Generally, 2GB is large enough to handle 1080P movies. So, chances are your video file would not be more than 2GB by a large margin. You can easily use the editing tool in your photos app to trim unnecessary parts of the video to make it smaller than 2GB.
Step 1: Open the Photos app on your iPhone and locate the video you want to send to WhatsApp.
Step 2: Tap Edit from the top. Then, from the bottom of the screen, use the sliders to trim the video and remove the unwanted parts.
Step 3: Tap Done to complete the video trimming process. Afterward, you can send the video to the person you wish to share it with on WhatsApp.
Step 1: Go to the Gallery app on your Android phone and find the video you want to send.
Step 2: Tap on the Pencil icon at the bottom of your phone screen.
Step 3: Use the Slider at the bottom to trim unwanted parts of the video, so it'll contain only the footage you want.
Step 4: Once trimming the video, tap Save to finish. Then, please share the video with anyone you want to send it to on WhatsApp.
It is much easier to share video lesser or equal to 2GB on WhatsApp. So, if the full video you intend to send on WhatsApp is smaller than or precisely 2GB, follow the following steps to send it quickly.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your device and go to Settings. Then, select Storage and Data.
Step 2: Select Media Upload Quality. You should see three options: Auto (Recommended), Best Quality, and Data Saver. Choose the one that suits your requirements.
Step 3: Now, open the Individual or Group chat to which you want to send the video. Then, tap the plus icon at the bottom left.
Step 4: Select Photo & Video Library and select the video you want to send. Afterward, tap the Send button to complete.
If you share large video files on WhatsApp regularly, chances are the WhatsApp data would fill up your device storage quickly. But the good news is you can avoid such a scenario by backing up your WhatsApp data to a computer. Then, all you need is MobileTrans to get the job done.
MobileTrans back up your WhatsApp messages in over 6000 mobile devices to a computer for free. Plus, it offers other helpful functionalities, such as WhatsApp transfer, restoration, and WhatsApp data recovery.
MobileTrans has a simple interface, so you don't need technical knowledge to employ it. All it takes is only a few clicks.

However, if you need to back up your WhatsApp data to another storage so your phone's storage won't get filled up quickly, MobileTrans can help you back up WhatsApp to your computer quickly and easily.
