How to encrypt Secure Folder content on Samsung?
Secure Folder is already protected, but Samsung also lets you encrypt the folder on supported models for extra protection. When Secure Folder is encrypted, apps and notifications inside it stop working until you decrypt it.
Steps
- Open Secure Folder and unlock it first.
- Tap the three-dot menu or More options button inside the folder.
- Tap Encrypt and confirm the action.
- Decrypt the folder later from the same menu whenever you need to use the apps or files inside again.
Quick Checks
- This is best when you want stronger protection while not actively using the content in Secure Folder.
- Apps and notifications inside the folder will pause until the folder is decrypted again.
- The Encrypt option may not appear on every model or software version.
Tips
- Use this only if the temporary pause for apps and notifications fits how you use the folder.
- If you depend on instant alerts from an app inside Secure Folder, leave it decrypted while you need those alerts.
- Menu names can vary slightly by model, carrier, or One UI version.
