How to manage app permissions on Samsung?
Samsung lets you review app permissions by permission type or one app at a time so you can remove access that is unnecessary. This is one of the best privacy checks to do regularly.
Steps
- Open Settings and go to Security and privacy, then tap Permission manager, or open Apps and review permissions there.
- Open a permission category such as Camera, Microphone, Contacts, or Location.
- Review which apps have access and change them to Allow only while using, Ask every time, or Don't allow.
- Recheck special permissions like display over other apps if something still feels risky.
Quick Checks
- Unused apps may lose permissions automatically on some recent Android versions.
- Some apps need certain permissions to work, so use the smallest access level that still makes sense.
- An app asking for unrelated permissions can be a privacy warning sign.
Tips
- Start with Camera, Microphone, Location, Phone, and Contacts because those are the most sensitive for many users.
- Repeat this review after installing new apps or after major One UI updates.
- Menu names can vary slightly by model, carrier, or One UI version.
