How to turn off precise location on Samsung?

On Samsung phones running modern Android, you can keep location access on for an app but turn off precise location so it only gets an approximate area. This is a simple way to improve privacy without fully breaking every location-based feature.

Steps
  1. Open Settings, tap Apps, and choose the app you want to review.
  2. Tap Permissions and then Location.
  3. Keep location allowed only if the app really needs it.
  4. Turn off Use precise location so the app only gets approximate location data.
Quick Checks
  • You can also review location access from Location and then App permissions on some phones.
  • Maps, ride-hailing, and delivery apps usually work better with precise location left on.
  • This separate precise-location control is available on modern Android versions, not older ones.
Tips
  • Use approximate location for shopping, weather, or casual apps that do not need exact coordinates.
  • If an app starts misbehaving after the change, turn precise location back on only for that app.
  • Menu names can vary slightly by model, carrier, or One UI version.
