How to Print a Document from iPhone with AirPrint
An iPhone can print a document with AirPrint when the iPhone and compatible printer use the same Wi-Fi network. Open the document, select Share or More, choose Print, select the printer, set copies or pages, and tap Print. AirPrint supports PDFs, photos, emails, webpages, and files from many compatible apps.
🤔Note:
AirPrint requires the iPhone and compatible printer to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Bluetooth-only printers generally cannot use standard AirPrint.
Steps
- Open the document or PDF in the Files app, Mail, Safari, or another compatible app.
- Tap Share, More, or the app’s action menu, then select Print.
- Tap Select Printer and choose the AirPrint-enabled printer listed on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Adjust copies, page range, paper size, or color settings when available.
- Tap Print to send the document to the printer.
Common Issues and Fixes
- No AirPrint printers found on iPhone: The iPhone and printer may use different networks. Connect both devices to the same standard Wi-Fi network, then reopen the print menu.
- Printer does not support AirPrint: Older printers may lack wireless AirPrint compatibility. Check the printer model specifications or use the manufacturer’s iPhone printing app.
- Printer appears offline: The printer may be asleep, disconnected, or out of paper. Wake the printer, check Wi-Fi status, load paper, and restart the print job.
- PDF prints with missing pages or incorrect formatting: The selected page range or PDF app may cause the problem. Open the PDF in Files or Adobe Acrobat, verify the page range, and print again.
- Print option is missing: The current app may not support printing. Save the file to Files, open the file from Files, and select Share > Print.
Quick Tips
💡Protip:
iPhone print PDF wireless printer: Confirm that the printer and iPhone are connected to the same local network rather than separate guest networks.
VPN connections, firewall settings, and wireless isolation can prevent printer discovery. Temporarily disable the VPN or connect through a home network.
AirPrint normally requires no printer driver or USB cable. Bluetooth-only printers generally cannot use standard AirPrint.
Large PDFs may take longer to process. Keep the print screen open until the job appears in the printer queue.
