Most mobile device brands will provide users with an official app to use when they want to transfer data from their old devices to a new one. For Motorola, this app is known as Motorola Migrate. With Motorola Migrate you can very easily move data from your old Android device to the new Motorola device. It supports numerous Android device models and it can transfer a wide range of data including music, photos, call history and more.
But this app may not be useful to you if your device is running Android 6.0 or higher. In this case, you may want to try the following alternatives.
1. MobileTrans-Phone Transfer
2. Shareit
3. CLONEit
4. Google Drive
One of the best Motorola Migrate alternatives to use when moving data from any Android device to the new Motorola is MobileTrans-Phone Transfer. This is because it supports all Android devices and all versions of the Android OS, not to mention, it will allow you to move all data from one device to another in a single click. With MobileTrans- Phone Transfer, you can transfer up to 15 different types of data from the old device to the new in a single click.
To use this program to transfer data from the old Android device to your new Motorola, download and install this program to your computer and then follow these simple steps;
Step 1: Launch the program after successful installation and the select the “Phone Transfer” feature on the main window.
Step 2: Now, connect both the Android device and the Motorola device to the computer using USB cables and wait for MobileTrans to recognize both devices. You may have to enable USB debugging for the program to detect the devices.
Here is it also important to make sure that you have the order of devices correctly. Make sure that the old device is the “Source” device and the Motorola device is the “Destination”. If this order is not correct, click on “Flip” to change it.
Step 3: Once the devices are both connected and MobileTrans detects both of them, you should see a list of all the data on the old Android device displayed between the two devices. Select the data you would like to transfer and then click “Start” to begin the process of transferring the contacts from the source device to the destination device.
Please note that if you want to completely replace the data on the destination device, check “clear data before copy” before beginning the transfer process.
Shareit is another equally capable data transfer tool that you can use instead of Motorola Migrate. It can allow you to transfer various types of data including videos, music and photos. With a transfer speed of 20m/s it is several times faster than a Bluetooth connection and it doesn’t require a USB connection.
Here’s how you can use Shareit to transfer data from your old Android device to a Motorola device;
Step 1: Ensure that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and then download Shareit on both devices.
Step 2: Open Shareit on the old Android and then tap on the “Send” button at the top
Step 3: Select the files that you would like to send and then tap on “next”
Step 4: Select the new device’s avatar when it appears on the screen and the transfer will begin immediately.
CLONEit is another great app that you can use to transfer up to 12 different types of data to the new Motorola device. This app also doesn’t require a USB connection. The types of data that you can transfer using CLONEit include messages, call logs, call history, App data, calendar and more.
To use this app to transfer data to your Motorola device, follow these simple steps;
Step 1: Begin by installing the CLONEit app on both devices. You can download the app from the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Open the app on both devices and tap on the “Sender” and “Receiver” buttons on the device. As long as both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the “Sender” device will automatically connect to the “Receiver” device.
Step 3: In the next window, select the types of data that you would like to transfer to the new device and then click “Start”. The transfer should begin immediately. Reboot the new device when the transfer is complete and you will be able to see the data on the new device.
You can also transfer data from one Android device to another using the Google Drive. This Cloud storage solution gives you up to 15GB of free storage space and you can backup all the data on the device to the Google Drive and restore the same data to the new device, effectively transfer data from one device to another.
Here’s how you can use Google Drive to transfer data from the old device to the new one;
Step 1: Open Google Drive on your old device and then click on “Upload” to add the files you want to transfer to the new device.
Step 2: Once all the files are added to the Drive, all you have to do is open Google Drive on the new device and then download the files to your device.
As you can see, there are very many ways to transfer data from an old device to a new Motorola device regardless of the version of Android you are running. The method you choose will depend on the type of data you would like to transfer and how much time you have. But, if you would like an easy and fast solution, we recommend using MobileTrans-Phone Transfer. With this tool, you just need to connect the devices to the computer using USB cables; there is no need for the devices to be connected to Wi-Fi.
