A while back, I wanted to transfer some of my important files from my Windows PC to my Android phone without any USB connection. This made me realize that there aren’t many feasible solutions to transfer files from PC to Android wirelessly.
Though, with the help of features like Bluetooth or WiFi, you can easily do a wireless transfer of data. Therefore, in this post, I will let you know how to transfer files from laptop to phone wirelessly in every possible way.
Part 1: Transfer Files from PC to Android via Bluetooth
Part 2: Transfer Files from PC to Android with MobileTrans [Easy & Quick]
Part 3: Transfer Files from PC to Android via Cloud Service
Part 4: Transfer Files from PC to Android via E-mail
Part 5: Transfer Files from PC to Android via Chats
Part 6: Transfer Files from PC to Android via WiFi
Ideally, the best way to transfer files from Windows to Android wirelessly is by using its Bluetooth feature. Since it is the native feature in both Android devices and Windows computers, you don’t have to install any third-party applications. Just pair both the devices once and manually select what you wish to transfer wirelessly via Bluetooth.
Step 1: Pair your Windows PC and Android Device
To do PC to Android file transfer wirelessly, you have to enable the Bluetooth feature on both devices. Now, go to your system’s Settings > Bluetooth to find your Android device that should be placed nearby.
Once you find your Android phone, select it from the list of the devices, and choose to pair it.
A prompt would be displayed on your Android device regarding the Bluetooth connection that you can simply agree to.
Step 2: Select the Files You Want to Transfer via Bluetooth
Great! Once both the devices are paired, you can transfer files from PC to Android wirelessly. To do that, you can just go to the Bluetooth settings on your computer and choose to send or receive files.
This will open a dedicated Bluetooth File Transfer wizard that you can follow to meet your requirements. At first, you can just select the connected Android phone to transfer your data.
As you would proceed, you can manually browse the files that you wish to move and click on the “Next” button to wirelessly transfer files from PC to Android.
Step 3: Accept the Incoming Data on your Android
Lastly, you will get a prompt on your Android device about the incoming data. You can just tap on the “Accept” button and wait as your selected files would be transferred to the connected Android device.
Limitations
Lastly, if you have a lot of data to transfer and are looking for a user-friendly solution, then you can try Wondershare MobileTrans. The application can instantly move your data from your PC to Android or vice-versa. Apart from that, it can also be used to perform a phone-to-phone transfer or take a backup of your data.
To transfer your files from your PC to your Android phone with MobileTrans, you can follow these steps:
Step 1: Connect your Phone and Choose the File Transfer Feature of MobileTrans
To begin with, you can just launch Wondershare MobileTrans on your system and go to the “File Transfer” tab from the top. Also, using a compatible USB cable, you can just connect your Android phone to your computer and wait for it to be detected by MobileTrans.
Step 2: Select the Files to be Transferred from your PC to your Phone
From the available features on the File Transfer tab, you can just click on the “Import to Phone” option. You can now click on the “Import” button from the bottom to manually go to any location on your system and select the files to be transferred. On MobileTrans, your data would be listed in different categories that you can preview as well.
Step 3: Complete the Transfer of your Data to your Phone
After selecting your files, you can just click on the “Import” button and wait for a while as your data would be transferred to your system.
Once your data is transferred to the connected Android phone, MobileTrans will let you know. You can now safely remove your Android device and access the newly transferred data on your phone.
These days, most people take the assistance of a cloud-based platform to back up their data and improve its accessibility on multiple devices. Therefore, you can also take the assistance of tools like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, etc. to transfer or sync your data between your PC and Android device.
Out of all the available platforms, I would recommend using Google Drive as it comes pre-installed on Android phones and provides generous storage of 15GB for free. Thus, you can use the web and app version of Google Drive to transfer files from a computer to phone wirelessly in the following way:
Step 1: Upload your Data from your PC to Google Drive
You can start by Going to the official website of Google Drive (drive.google.com) and logging into your Google account. Now click on the “New” button from the side, choose to upload files, and just browse to their location on your system.
In this way, you can upload all kinds of documents or media files from your system to your Google Drive account.
Step 2: Download your Data from the Google Drive App to your Phone
Once your files are uploaded to Google Drive, you can just launch its app on your Android phone. Just make sure you are using the same Google account on your phone where your data is stored.
Afterward, you can just manually look for the files that are uploaded recently and go to their more options (by tapping on the hamburger icon from the top). From here, you can simply choose to download the selected file from Google Drive to your phone’s local storage.
If you only wish to transfer a few selective files, then you can just email them to yourself. In this method to do PC to mobile file transfer wirelessly, we will simply attach a file on a mailing client and would later use its smartphone app to access our data. Sounds complicating? Well, all you need to do is follow these easy steps to do instant PC to mobile wireless file transfer.
Step 1: Email your Data from your PC to Yourself
For this technique to work, you can just open your email account on your system (like Gmail). Now, you can just choose to compose a new email from its web-based interface.
As the interface of a new email is opened, you can click on the attachment icon to manually browse and load the files you want to transfer.
Once the files are attached to the email, you can send them to your email ID or can let them rest in the drafts.
Step 2: Download your Attachments on your Android Phone
Now, to access your files, you can just launch the mailing app (like Gmail) on your phone and open the respective email or draft. From here, you can just tap on the download icon for the attached file and save it on the local storage of your Android phone.
You might already know that Google Messages has evolved a lot in the last few years. Now, the smart messaging app works on Wi-Fi and can also be accessed on our computers via its web-based tool. By using it, you can also wirelessly transfer files from PC to Android for free. Though, you would have to attach one file at a time as it doesn’t support a bulk transfer of data.
Step 1: Access Google Messages on your PC
Firstly, you need to access Google Messages on your computer using its web-based tool. To do that, just go to the website of Google Messages (messages.google.com) and simply scan the QR code. You would have to open the Google Messages app on your device, tap on its more options > Device Pairing to sync it with your desktop.
Step 2: Compose your Messages and Attach your Files
Once the Google Messages app is synced, you can access it on your system. Here, you can click on the “Start Chat” button to compose a new message and select the name of the recipient.
Now, go to the bottom panel and just click on the attachment icon to simply browse any file from your system and send it to the recipient.
Step 3: Download the Shared File on your Android
Lastly, you can launch the Google Messages app and simply open the conversation where the file is attached. You can either long-tap the file or tap on the three-dot icon above it to save it on your phone’s storage.
In case you have a lot of data to transfer wirelessly, then you can also take the assistance of Wi-Fi. For this, you would need to have Wi-Fi direct enabled on your device. There are several third-party clients like AirDroid that you can also use to transfer files from PC to Android wirelessly.
Step 1: Connect your Android and PC via AirDroid
You can start by installing the AirDroid application on your PC and Android phone. Now, log into your account on both devices and go to the Android web feature on the device. This will let you scan the QR code that is displayed on your computer to connect your phone to it.
Step 2: Upload your Files from your PC
After connecting your phone to your computer, you can easily transfer files from PC to Android wirelessly. To do this, launch the AirDroid application, select your device, and click on the attachment button to browse your data. You can also just directly drag and drop your files from your system to AirDroid.
Step 3: Download your Files from the AirDroid App on your Phone
To access these files on your phone, you can just launch the AirDroid app on your phone and select the connected PC. Afterward, you can select the transferred file and tap on the download icon to save it on your phone.
